Physicians in the Department of Ophthalmology study and treat all diseases of the eye, including: corneal and external diseases, refractive surgery, glaucoma, medical and surgical retinal disorders, uveitis, strabismus, pediatric ophthalmology, genetic disorders affecting the eye, ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, and orbital surgery. There are multiple research projects, including:

Identification of gene defects in autosomal dominant cataracts

Use of collagen shields for delivery of drugs to the cornea


Research in evaluating new technologies for the performance of refractive and laser corneal surgery

Mathematical modeling of aqueous human dynamics in different forms of glaucoma

Ocular hypotensive medications in pediatric glaucoma

Clinical trials in the treatment of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy

Screening techniques for diabetic retinopathy

Clinical features and treatment of pediatric and adult thyroid eye disease
